Geraldine District Golf Clubs "Denfield" course is located in South Canterbury just one and a half hours drive south of Christchurch and 30 minutes from Timaru. It is situated on the corner of Orari Station Road and Orari Back Road, 3 kms from Geraldine and 3 kms from Orari.
Follow the signs west from State Highway 1 at Orari, or east from just north of the Waihi River bridge at Geraldine.
Located on the Geraldine-Fairlie Highway (SH79) (approximately 7 minutes drive from Geraldine) you will discover a little Gem! The Brewery Café is surrounded by the beautiful rural farmland with inside and outside dining that gives you the opportunity to sample award winning hand-crafted beers brewed on site in a relaxing environment.
On display are over 1400 exhibits. These include 101 tractors from 1912 onwards, including the oldest working tractor in New Zealand and thirty vintage cars from 1905. An interesting collection of classic cars. There are many items of farm equipment including hot air engines, stationary motors and a Threshing Mill. Also on display is a 1929 Spartan Biplane, household items, agricultural equipment and much much more.
Susan Badcock Studio/Gallery has a regular rotating exhibition of hand coloured photographs by Susan and paintings by her Dad, renowned artist John Badcock and grandfather Douglas Badcock and monotypes by Sharon Whittaker. Deadly Ponies luxury accessories range is also available. Tuesday-Saturday 10-2pm or by appointment.
Geraldine Observatory is one of New Zealands best private observatories. Operated by Peter and Wyn Aldous, the observatory has a 14 inch, six inch refractor, four inch triplit refractor, all mounted on a Paramont ME mount in a large roll on roll off observatory, a 11 inch HD Edge telescope in a domed observatory as well as others. Peters main interest is super nova hunting (exploding stars)and sharing the joys of the night sky with members of the public. Peter has over 40 years experience as a amateur astronomer.Donations go to promoting outreach astronomy in South Canterbury
